Head of Risk – Energy Industry
The Challenge
A new, well financed, entrant to the energy sector, our client was looking to grow market share dramatically, but were concerned that their drive for growth may compromise compliance.
Keen to learn and further develop their compliance function, they were looking to appoint a high calibre Head of Risk with top 6 energy experience to join their senior management team.
The HR lead retained LORD following our recent success at recruiting their CFO and CTO as she felt that we were both “easy to do business with” and stronger than their incumbent industry specialist suppliers at delivering senior specialist roles.
Method
We developed a detailed understanding of the skills, experience and potential they were looking for. We then completed a thorough market mapping exercise, identifying the strongest senior risk professionals within the big 6 energy suppliers.
Our initial research identified over 60 risk professionals at different levels of seniority within the UK risk market. These were then prioritised and approached directly with the strongest 20 invited to attend interview. These were narrowed down to 9 candidates which were then presented as out recommended shortlist to the client.
The client was so impressed with the depth and breadth of the long list that they chose to interview all nine candidates.
The Results
LORD successfully introduced the Head of Risk and an offer was made and accepted within two months of being instructed to proceed. The candidate has been an invaluable addition to their senior management team and has played a key role in the continued success of a business. The business is now challenging the established top 6 in their approach to the energy market, all without compromising on compliance.
LORD have since been instructed on a number of other energy specific roles within the business. They have all been successfully completed and we are now retained to recruit for all of their senior and niche roles.
